Month Theme: Novel Disciples

Topic: The Novel Man II

Scripture Reading: Mark 1:1-28

Main Text:
Mark 1:27
27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

The ministry of Jesus Christ on earth took everybody by surprise with His doctrine and the demonstration of signs and wonders. He was a “novel man” and His ministry was a “novel ministry”. Israel had never seen His kind of ministry. Two characteristics of the “Novel Man” and His ministry stand out in Mark 1:23-28:

1. Power — Greek word of authority in the above scripture reference is ‘exousia’ meaning the power to act, dominion and jurisdiction. Jesus Christ was not only anointed with the power of the Holy Ghost but had the authority to act.
2. Propagation — Propagation is the action of widely spreading something. After casting out the devil, Jesus Christ’s fame spread throughout the region. The effect of the supernatural power of God spreads rapidly.

Jesus Christ was a novel man anointed with the power of the Holy Ghost who had the authority to go everywhere casting out devils and healing those who were oppressed by the devil. He did not come to conform; He came to confront and to transform. Jesus Christ is alive in our midst today, and His presence will manifest strongly in our lives.

Prayer: Pray that many more people will accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
