Topic: The Cross of Jesus Christ

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:1-18

Main Text:
1 Corinthians 1:18
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Through His death on the Cross, Jesus Christ paid the full penalty for the sins of the world and obtained redemption for us. Human beings cannot pay for their sins with their own works. The Cross of Jesus Christ should be our emphasis, not human wisdom.

The Cross is foolishness to those who perish but it is the power of God to those who are saved (1 Corinthians 1:17-18). The apostle Paul knew about the power of the Cross so much that he did not depend on human wisdom to declare the testimony of God but on the power of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 2:1-3).

The prophet Isaiah captured the blessings of the believer in Isaiah 53. He said in that scripture reference that everything believers need are included in the pain and shame Jesus Christ experienced through His death and resurrection (Isaiah 53:4-5).

Prayer:
Thank God for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
