Month Theme: Explode
Topic: Unintended Explosion
Scripture Reading: Acts 8:1-10
Main Text:
Acts 8:5-6
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
_6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. _
Some of the early disciples exploded in other parts of the world beyond Jerusalem not through their own will but circumstances beyond their control. An example of the unintended explosion of the Gospel is the ministry of Philip in Samaria. He exploded there and within a short time, the city was set ablaze by the power of the Holy Ghost (Acts 8:4-8).
Probably, Philip – anointed to serve tables – did not know he was going to explode in Samaria. No one would have elected him to bring joy to a city. The unintended explosion had an impact:
1. Attention — The people gave heed to Philip. He turned them from a magician.
2. Abdication — Renounce one’s throne — Unclean spirit cried and came out of many that were possessed with them.
3. Atmosphere — There was joy in the city of Samaria.
When God chooses a person or group of people, they make impact. Their impact is often beyond expectation. Like Philip, you will live beyond man’s expectation.
Prayer: Pray you’ll have faith to move in the unintended explosion when the time comes.
