Month Theme: Release
Topic: The Release of Spiritual Gifts
Scripture Reading: John 3:1-11
Main Text:
John 3:8
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
The wind of the Spirit is a wind of release – it releases salvation, healing, deliverance and the power of the Holy Ghost. Nicodemus was not spiritually equipped to figure it out. The working of the wind is the activity of the Holy Ghost to produce the effect of salvation, healing, deliverance, prosperity and the power of the Holy Ghost.
• The wind bloweth
The wind bloweth – wind (pneuma – spirit, breath, spiritual); bloweth (breath hard, breeze). The wind blowing is the same as the Jubilee trumpet sounding. Blowing involves:
1. Determination (that which is determined as your portion) — The sovereign act of the Spirit. The wind determines your need and portion of the anointing and blessing Eg 1, 2, 5 talents. Elisha received a double portion of the Spirit on Elisha.
2. Distribution — The wind blows by distributing. He carries your portion to you. A supernatural distribution is taking place (1 Corinthians 12:11). Your portion is coming to you.
• Thou heareth.
Thou heareth – we must hear when the wind blows. Hearing involves:
1. Receiving — Sensitivity and Understanding. We must be sensitive to the blowing of the wind to receive our portion.
2. Responding — Obedience and Movement. Allow the wind of the Spirit to carry you as dumb idols carry the heathen (1 Corinthians 12:1-2). Do not resist the blowing of the wind, and do not delay your response to the wind. Move with the Spirit. God is raising an army, and you are on the winning side (Ezekiel 37:9-10).
Prayer: Pray and command every wind of life blowing around you, to blow to your advantage.
