28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
God’s promise to pour out His Spirit upon all flesh is one of the most significant blessings to human kind. Joel prophesied that God would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh (Joel 2:28-29). The Holy Ghost’s omnipresence, omnipotence and omniscience are manifested in His ability to fall upon “all flesh” and empower them.
The outpouring of the Holy Ghost empowers believers with the gifts of:
1. Prophecy — Bringing forth the inner fruit (exhortation, prayer and instruction) under the influence of the Spirit.
2. Dreams — Having the will of God revealed to the old men and fulfilled through divine inspiration. Dreams are living mental images. Dreams are received while we are sleeping.
3. Visions — A perception beyond the normal experiences. To supernaturally gaze at a scene or object externally or have an inspired appearance internally. The imposition of divine things upon the imagination of God’s people. Visions are received when we are wide awake.
Believers must receive the fulfilment of Joel’s prophecy in this time of unprecedented explosion of the power of God.
Prayer: Ask God for the grace to receive the outpouring of the Holy Ghost.
