Acts 2:1
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
The time spent in the Upper Room was a trial or probation period because: They were expecting the Holy Ghost whom they had never seen (Acts 1:14). They were waiting for a personality who has never appeared to anyone. Also, the people who persecuted Jesus Christ were hostile towards them. They persecuted them like they persecuted their master.
The outcome of their trial was positive – they emerged from the Upper Room stronger.
• Purification.
Trial results in personal purification. Time is a purifying influence. Time is a refiner when the Word of God and the saints of God are present – the longer we remain in God’s presence the holier we are likely to become 2 Timothy 2:20-21).
• Separation.
Apart from purifying the hearts of those who dwell together in God’s presence, time separates those who are pure-hearted from the carnal ones. No mixed multitude. Time is a test of commitment – it separates those who truly desire the Holy Ghost from religious folks who flock in gatherings to satisfy their conscience (Matthew 3:11-12).
Revivals and visitations of God delay to ensure a separation between the pretenders and contenders of the Kingdom of God. Time is a mandatory factor in the move of God. The disciples waited in the Upper Room and God defined a clear demarcation between them and the rest of the people in Jerusalem.
Prayer: Pray that any trial that comes your way will not break, but will make you stronger.
