Month Theme: Giving and Receiving

Topic: The Impact of Giving and Receiving 2

Scripture Reading:
Philippians 4:10-23

Main Text:
Philippians 4:18
18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

Paul assured the Philippians that God would supply all their need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). The Philippians qualified to receive blessings from God because they gave gifts to the apostle Paul. It is wrong to claim the provisions of the above scripture verse when you are not a giver. God has riches in glory by Christ Jesus – He had them before the foundation of the world. God’s riches are ageless and inexhaustible.

God had riches before the Philippians had needs. To meet their need was therefore not a problem to God. The Philippians had a need and in spite of that they met the apostle Paul’s need. When the Philippians met Paul’s need God supplied their need.

God did not supply their need simply because they were believers. He did not provide for them just because they loved Paul – they did something to receive the supply of their need. God supplied their need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus because they gave to the apostle Paul even though they were in need. The Philippians sowed a SEED and God responded by supplying their NEED.

Prayer:
Pray for the grace to be a giver, and the humility to be a receiver.
