Month Theme: Holy Ghost
Topic: The Holy Ghost in the Upper Room I
Scripture Reading: Acts 2:1-10
Main Text:
Acts 2:4
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
A protagonist is defined as he leading character or one of the major characters in a play, film or novel; the main figure or one of the most prominent figures in a situation; chief character; champion of a particular cause or idea. The Holy Ghost was the protagonist in the Upper Room experience (Acts 2:1-4). Everything that happened there pointed to Him.
One evidence of the fact that everything pointed to Him was that they waited (Acts 2:1). They were not in a hurry. Unfortunately, in many of our churches today, we have shifted attention from waiting for the Holy Ghost to waiting for men and program outlines. Leaving a church because another offended you, or attending services late because you don’t like the prayer or singing is a sign of a lost focus on the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost was the reason for waiting in the Upper Room (Luke 24:49). We should wait until something happens. God knows where to find you. Leaders must get the Spirit first. Their reason for being in the Upper Room was not the meeting, neither was it to meet a person — it was all about the Holy Ghost.
Prayer: Pray for the diligence and discipline to make the Holy Ghost your focus.
