Month Theme: Holy Ghost

Topic: The Gods Have Come Down to Us

Scripture Reading: Acts 14:1-15

Main Text:
Acts 14:11
11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

Paul and Barnabas were so supernaturally empowered that the people of Lystra regarded them as gods. They referred to Barnabas as Jupiter Paul as Mercurius (Acts 14:8-15). The works of miracles made the people of Lystra regard Paul and Barnabas as gods. They healed a man who was born a cripple.

When the omnipotent Holy Ghost descends on people, they possess supernatural power that makes observers mistakenly regard them as “gods” – they cease to be ordinary in the sight of people (Acts 5:12-15). The gods – Greek word ‘Theos’ meaning a god, goddess, a general name for deities or divinities. The people thought the gods had left their habitation in heaven and come down to the earth.

It is inevitable for the world to regard us as gods if we walk in the realm in which we are supposed to walk. We must reject the glory and resist the temptation, BUT IT IS DEFEATIST FOR THE WOLD TO CONTINUE TO IGNORE US (Exodus 7:1-2).

Prayer: pray for a strong manifestation of miracles, signs and wonders in your life.
