Month Theme: Holy Ghost

Topic: The Giver of Eternal Life I

Scripture Reading: John 14:1-26; Acts 2:1-10

Main Text:
John 14:16
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

God created man and breathed into him to become a living soul. Through the disobedience of the first Adam, sin came into the world leading to death. However, by the obedience of the last Adam unto death, we receive eternal life (Romans 5:19-21). Jesus Christ is the source of eternal life.

Jesus Christ gives eternal life through the Word of God and the Holy Ghost (John 3:5-6). At the new birth in Christ, believers are regenerated through the activity of the Word of God and the Holy Ghost. That is what qualifies us to enter into the Kingdom of God.

It is not your responsibility to be born. You are born of the Spirit. You are saved by an act of grace. You do not earn eternal life, you receive it as a gift of God. “It’s not by might, nor by power but by my Spirit”, says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6). Those that are born of the Spirit are spirit (John 3:8).

Prayer: Thank God for eternal life.
