John 14:16
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

The people who argue against deity of Jesus Christ also argue against the deity of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost can only fulfil His mission on earth if He is God. His mandate is too massive for a created being or thing. There are four main divine attributes that distinguish God from created beings and the Holy Ghost has all of them: 1. Eternity 2. Omnipotence 3. Omniscience 4. Omnipresence.

The writer of the book of Hebrews refers to the Holy Ghost as “the eternal spirit” (Hebrews 9:14). The word “eternal” in the just mentioned scripture reference is the Greek ‘aiōnios’ meaning without beginning or end, past, present and future, agelong, perpetual and never to cease. Eternity is the infinitude of God in relation to duration.

Jesus fulfilled His mandate of shedding His blood to save the world by operating through the eternal Spirit. You must fulfil your mandate by the same method – through the eternal Spirit. The eternal Spirit fulfils the eternal plans of God in your life. Anyone who is filled with the Holy Ghost is eternity-minded. You have eternal life (1 John 5:11-12; John 11:25-26). The plans of God for you are from eternity (Jeremiah 1:4-5).

Prayer: Thank God for eternal life.
