Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:1-14

Main Text:
Ephesians 2:14
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

The world is divided into races and classes. Thick and high walls/barriers exist among us. The differences among people are very deep but the blood of Jesus Christ builds them into one Body – the Church (Ephesians 2:11-14). Let’s examine just two words from the above scripture reference that describe the differences among people – aliens and strangers.

“Aliens” in verse 12 means estrange, exclude or shut out from one’s fellowship and intimacy. Alienated from the commonwealth or state of Israel. Gentiles did not dwell among the people of Israel unless they conformed to some laws. Being an alien is EXCLUSION FROM THE FELLOWSHIP OF GOD’S PEOPLE.
“Strangers” in verse 12 means foreigner, without the knowledge of or without a share in something. Strangers from the covenant of circumcision given to Abraham and the covenant at mount Sinai made with Israel. Being a stranger is EXCLUSION FROM GOD.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the explosive barrier buster. Jesus Christ has broken down the middle wall of partition among us (verse 14). Jesus Christ is the buster /breaker of barriers. A buster is a person or thing that breaks something apart. The Gospel of Jesus Christ breaks the barriers among people apart (Galatians 3:28-29). It saves Jews and Greeks. Males and females have a gulf that separates them but the Gospel redeems both.

Prayer: Pray for a soul somewhere that God will touch his/her heart to be converted to Christ; ask God to show him/her mercy.
