Month Theme: Release

Topic: Take It by Force

Scripture Reading: Leviticus 25:1-15

Main Text:
Leviticus 25:10
10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

A casual approach to the Jubilee produces no results. We must take if by force. I can imagine people rushing back home to take their property by force. Reminds me about the manner in which there was a great rush or crowd pressing to enter the Kingdom of Heaven from the days of John the Baptist – earnestness and violence (Matthew 11:12).

People were earnest about the Kingdom of Heaven. They pressed to obtain the blessing by taking it by force – this is the manner in which cities were taken in the ancient days – besiegers pressed upon them with violence and destroyed walls.

The spirit of the Jubilee is a spirit of RELEASE – people were released, and those who possessed others or their things, released them. In the Jubilee, one has to be restless to break the yoke of bondage (Genesis 27:40).

Prayer: Pray for the boldness and wisdom to go for what is yours.
