Month Theme: Settlement Warrant
Topic: Proclaim your Jubilee
Scripture Reading: Leviticus 25:1-14
Main Text:
Leviticus 25:9
9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
In the Jubilee year of the people of Israel, God demanded the unconditional release of all slaves from bondage, and the restoration of property to their original owners (Leviticus 25:8-13). Everybody was supposed to return to his or her possessions and family in the Jubilee. The Jubilee was associated with freedom, blessing and possession. The people were freed from slavery, they ate the increase of the field, returned to their possessions, and settled in them.
The property to which people returned in the Jubilee was family or ancestral property. This means they didn’t work for it. They returned to take it. However, in some cases they might have fought to release themselves from slave masters who didn’t want to free them and also, forcibly ejected those who refused to give their property back to them when they returned to them.
The finished work of Jesus Christ has paid the full price for our redemption and restoration, but we still have to fight the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12). Today, believers have to fight against the slave masters who use the traditions of men, and demonic powers to hinder them from possessing their possessions. They may also have to fight against imposters who occupy their rightful places and refuse to leave. The word “possession” implies to seize something. We may have to apply force to take what is ours (Matthew 11:11-13).
Prayer:
DECREE this season as your Jubilee but not a period of pandemic. Blow your Jubilee trumpet and reject the spirit of negativity.
