Month Theme: Explosion
Topic: Marks of Suddenness
Scripture Reading: Acts 2:1-41
Main Text:
Acts 2:1
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
An explosion is a violent shattering or blowing apart of something as is caused by a bomb. The explosion of the Holy Ghost features an element of suddenness. The day of Pentecost featured a sudden sound from Heaven like a rushing mighty wind which filled the entire house (Acts 2:1-2). There was a sudden explosion in the Upper Room.
When the day or time “fully comes”, the event that follows may be “sudden”. Suddenness describes how the phenomenon of the coming of the Holy Ghost occurs:
1. Surprise
Unexpectedness and abruptness. The Church needs a revival of surprises – salvation, healing, deliverance, miracles and supernatural experiences.
2. Swiftness
Speed and quickness. The explosion of the Spirit is swift because of some factors.
The message translation of the Bible describes the suddenness of the explosion of God’s power in a more dramatic way. It says, “without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force – no one could tell where it came from.” A gale is a very strong wind – the sound was like that of a very strong wind.
Prayer: Pray that the Lord will bless you with pleasant surprises.
