“Determination” is defined as the act of deciding definitely and firmly; or a judicial decision settling and ending a controversy. The Holy Ghost directs the affairs of the Church. The omnipotence of the Holy Ghost plays a major role in the people God chooses for various ministerial assignments (Acts 13:1-3).
The Holy Ghost elected Barnabas and Saul for the work of the ministry through:
1. Ministering to the Lord.
2. Fasting and prayer.
Laying on of hands equipped Barnabas and Saul for the ministry. Barnabas and Saul were elected by the Holy Ghost for the work He assigned them (Acts 9:13-16). They being chosen was not determined by man, but the Holy Ghost. You may feel unqualified, and men may find you unfit, yet the Holy Ghost can choose you.
Criteria for determination (1 Corinthians 1:26-29) — the foolish (dull, blockhead or stupid), weak (without strength, helpless, unimpressive), base (unborn, of no family, without kin), despised (treat with contempt, least esteemed, set at naught) and things which are not (the things that are nothing). The Holy Ghost does not need your ability. He can equip you.
Prayer: Ask the Holy Ghost to equip you with anything you must know, anything you must have, and anything you must be, to execute your assignment.
