Month Theme: For This Purpose
Topic: Created for a Purpose
Scripture Reading: Genesis I:26-31
Main Text:
Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
The Oxford dictionary defines “purpose” as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. Without purpose, life is meaningless and unfulfilling. It is important for you to discover the purpose for which you were created, blessed and anointed. Purpose is not the prerogative of a privileged few in the world – everybody should know his or her purpose in life. You will discover your purpose in this book and fulfil it to God’s glory and the blessing of humankind.
God created you for a purpose. He created Adam and Eve and gave them the divine mandate to rule the universe and make the earth productive (Genesis 1:26-28). The earth has great potential but it takes human beings to release its wealth and blessings. Many parts of the world look useless until the right people show up. What we see in a place in terms of civilisation and development is always the result of the people who occupy the land and influence it.
You are not created to give excuses for the way things are. You are not created to continue the culture of failure. The land should not mould you into the shape of those who were anonymous on it before you were born. I often hear people say that a person is the product of his or her environment. On the contrary, I think in some cases the environment is the product of a person. Sometimes people can make or shape their environment, not the other way round.
Prayer Pray for the grace and boldness to locate and pursue God’s purpose for your life.
