Topic: Bring Down the Walls II
Scripture Reading: Joshua 6:1-10

Joshua 6:5
5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.
In this first part of this topic, which was treated in yesterday, we learned that during the Jubilee, “the walls” around where people are held and around their families and possessions literally collapsed as they returned to take what belonged to them. Their possessions were released to them. The collapse of the walls in families is comparable with the collapse of the walls of Jericho. The children of Israel, under the leadership of Joshua shouted and blew the trumpets – similar to the Jubilee shofar – to bring down the walls of Jericho (Joshua 6:1-5).
Three things required to bring down the walls:
1. THE SOLDIERS (Joshua 6:3).
2. THE SHOFAR (Joshua 6:4).
The shofar represents the instruments (situations and people) the Church uses to bring down the walls:
• Events — though one can serve God while at home, we cannot choose to avoid the assembly. The security, encouragement, opportunities to be blessed and be a blessing, the strength, and other blessings we gain from the assembly cannot be overemphasised.
• Enthronements — we carry the anointing of kings and priests. Obstacles give way as we advance (Luke 3:4-7).
3. THE SHOUT (Joshua 6:5).
The shout represents the things we do to bring down the walls:
• Information — The shout tells warriors what to do (1 Corinthians 14:7-8).
• Intimidation.
The shout scares the enemy (Isaiah 9:5; 1 Samuel 4:5-8).
It was unreasonable to think that marching around walls and blowing trumpets could bring the walls of Jericho down. But no weapon of God is too ordinary to accomplish extraordinary feats (2 Corinthians 10:3-6).
Prayer: Command every wall (of sickness, sin, poverty, etc) around your family to fall.
