Theme: Overcoming In the Evil Day
Topic: Armour for the Evil Day – The Belt of Truth
Ephesians 6:14a
Stand therefore, having, your loins girt about with truth…
In the evil day, you will need to be well armed for battle. The Armour of God is the best armour for this warfare. The belt of truth is one of the components of the Armour of God. The belt holds the rest of the worn armour together. Truth should be the central quality that keeps our armour intact, because the devil fights with lies. He either lies about God to us or lies about the situation we are facing (Genesis 3:1, 4-5). Only the truth from the knowledge of God can defeat the lies of the devil and bring you deliverance (John 8:32).
Satan is the “father of lies” (John 8:44), and deception is high on the list of things God considers to be an abomination. A “lying tongue” is one of the things He describes as “detestable to Him” (Proverbs 6:16-17). We are exhorted therefore to put on truth (give attention to the Truth) for our own sanctification and deliverance, as well as for the benefit of those to whom we witness (1 Timothy 4:13, 15-16).
To be truthful is to be right, exact, faithful, reliable, veracious and verifiable. How honest and sincere are you? God expects you to be truthful in your marriage, relationships, workplace and with your family. Always endeavour to give accurate information, knowing that this pleases your Father in heaven.
