Month Theme: The Anointing

Topic: Access

Scripture Reading: Job 29:1-25

Main Text:
Job 29:6
When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;

The book of Job reveals that there is a mine where silver is taken from and a place where gold is refined. It says iron is taken out of the earth and copper is smelted from the stone ore (Job 28:1-2). These revelations imply that oil also has a source from which it is accessed, obtained or retrieved. The anointing delivers you from being subjugated. When the anointing influences you, you influence your environment.

Looking at the words butter, rock and oil together gives us an interesting sequence of events. As we walk in the revelation of God’s Word (butter), the Rock (God/Jesus Christ) pours out rivers of oil (the anointing) into our lives. When Job received the anointing, it influenced his life and he in turn influenced others. Oil in the Bible times was used for food, light, anointing, and medicine. It is a symbol of influence because of its versatile use.

Jesus Christ, the rock is the source of the oil of the Holy Ghost. Those who know Him, obey and speak His Word and He in turn pours out rivers of oil to them. The anointing on the life of Jesus Christ provides the evidence that there is a correlation between the Word of God and walking in the anointing. He spoke the Word of God faithfully and God gave Him the Spirit or anointing without measure (John 3:34).

Prayer Pray for the grace to always be connected to the source of the anointing.
