Month Theme: Holy Ghost
Topic: Lying to the Holy Ghost
Scripture Reading: Acts 5:1-10
Main Text:
Acts 5:3
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
Many people lie to the Holy Ghost, thinking they are lying to men. Ananias and his wife Sapphira lied about the exact price they brought to the apostles after selling their piece of property (Acts 5:3-6). Peter rebuked them and said they had lied to the Holy Ghost. In the same conversation, he said they lied to God, thereby making the Holy Ghost, God.
Lying in the Body of Christ is rapant in our day. Believers approach the Communion table unworthily, without any intentions of repentance (1 Corinthians 11:26-30). Others make weddings vows before the church, knowing they will not keep the vows. Even during ministrations, some ministers lie about revelations they see, and what God has told them. Many are living lives of lies.
We take the omniscience of the Holy Ghost for granted. The attribute of omniscience of God must be demonstrated in the Body of Christ to sanctify it and prepare it for the second coming of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 4:17).
Prayer: Pray that God will heal us of lying.
