Month Theme: Explosion

Topic: Escape from Prison

Scripture Reading: Acts 16:1-27

Main Text:
Acts 16:26
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

Many believers are bound physically or mentally. Believers could be incarcerated under several social, financial and health conditions with no hope of escape. The sudden or spontaneous manifestation of God’s power is about to release His people from bondage and strike the unbelievers who hold them captive with awe. In Acts 16:25-27, the earthquake was sudden, the prison doors were immediately opened and the chains of the prisoners were loosened. The release of the apostle Paul and Silas did not involve a long process of negotiation and laborious effort of unlocking doors.

The power of the Holy Ghost to set prisoners free operates in this manner:
1. Shaking foundations
Foundations are the spirits and systems that hold us in bondage. God is shaking them. Shaking comprises sudden changes and violent eruptions.
2. Opening prison doors
Doors are limitations that are imposed on us. Opening prison gates comprises breaking resistance, removing hinderances and having access to forbidden territories.
3. Destroying prison keepers
Escape from prison involves the destruction of those who keep us in prison.

The mandate of Jesus Christ is to set prisoners free (Isaiah 61:1-3). That is our mandate too.

Prayer: Pray and shake any foundation of evil around your life. Break free from any prison.
