Month Theme: Giving and Receiving
Topic: Esteem Christ Above Gifts
Scripture Reading:
Philippians 4:10-23
Main Text:
Philippians 4:12-13
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
The apostle Paul said he could do all things through Christ who strengthened him. By this he meant he could live with plenty and with nothing. He could do much with little resources. Paul depended on the power of the Holy Ghost to do the work of the ministry and live victoriously and not on money.
A true servant of God can live without money. Moses regarded having Christ as being greater than the treasures of Egypt in spite of the reproach that comes with believing in Him (Hebrews 11:26). Don’t allow the availability of gifts or their absence to determine the quality of your life and the progress of your ministry or business.
It is Christ who gives you the ability to fulfil God’s purpose. You could have all the resources in the world and fail to fulfil your purpose. On the other hand, you may not have money and God would strengthen you through the Spirit of Christ to accomplish your purpose.
Prayer:
1. Pray for the grace and spiritual discipline to never esteem earthly reward above Christ.
