Theme: Overcoming In the Evil Day
Topic: Armour for the Evil Day – The Gospel of Peace
Ephesians 6:15
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
In ancient times, battles were fought by enemies rushing against each other in masses. The army of soldiers with firmer footing were most likely to be victorious. Firm footing was determined by the nature of the ground – slippery, rocky, etc. – and the type of soldiers’ boots worn. Apostle Paul painted this picture as he communicated to the Ephesians.
In our case, Jesus is the solid rock upon whom we are not moved (Psalm 62:2). The other part of finding a firm footing to be victorious is standing in the Gospel of peace which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Psalm 125:1). We are to be conduits of peace (Romans 14:16 – 19).
Ephesians 5:16-17 teaches us to walk circumspectly as wise people because the days are evil. We are to walk based on spiritual instructions and directions if we will be victorious in battle. Jesus Christ did what He saw the Father do in heaven (John 5:19-20). Teaching and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a sure way to victory.
