Walking In Holiness

Theme: Overcoming In the Evil Day

Topic: Walking In Holiness

Psalm 24:4
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

To overcome sin, we need the help of the Holy Ghost. God has given us the Holy Ghost to convict us of sin, so we can be victorious in Christian living (John 16:8). The fruits of the flesh are contrasted with the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:16-25. We are admonished to walk in the Spirit, because it is the sure way of not dwelling in the flesh.

All believers already possess the Holy Ghost, but we need to walk in Him, yielding to His control. This means choosing to consistently follow the Holy Ghost’s prompting in our lives rather than following the flesh. We walk in the Spirit, endeavouring not to quench His promptings (1 Thessalonians 5:19) and seek instead to be filled—that is, to be fully under the Holy Ghost’s control (Ephesians 5:18–21).

Our prayer should be that we be filled with the Holy Ghost, immersed in God’s Word (Colossians 3:16), and obedient to God’s commands. This gives the Holy Ghost freedom to work within our thoughts and actions, and subsequently keeping us holy.
