PRAYER ARMOUR

FRIDAY, 20TH & 27TH OCT. 2017

INTRODUCTION

From the month of October to December, every Friday is declared as a day of fasting and prayer for Fountain Gate Chapel and EAM. This prayer effort is called “the Prayer Armour”. It is intended to antagonise satan’s flaming missiles, protect the saints and empower them to overcome in the evil day. Our testimony must be positive in these trying times.

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19  And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:10 – 20

Today, our prayer is the direction of appropriating the power and grace of the LORD as our Shepherd.

PRAYER TOPICS – THE LORD MY SHEPHERD

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 23:1 – 6

1. Prayer of Submission.

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1
Submit to the Lord as your Shepherd. Commit your ways to Him and ask Him to help you obey Him in everything. Confess that He is your Shepherd and you are His sheep. He is yours and You are His. He is not the Shepherd of others but yours.

2. Prayer for Satisfaction.

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1
Tell the LORD that you are satisfied with Him. He is all you really need. Confess His omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience that give you the assurance that He can give your everything you want – food, clothing, shelter, forgiveness, health, deliverance and peace.

3. Prayer for Serenity.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psalm 23:2
Green pastures are places of nourishment, warmth, and comfort. Pray for the LORD to place you in green pastures. If you perceive yourself already to be in green pastures, thank God for making you lie down in green pastures. Ask God to make you experience His provision and comfort in your home, business, church and community.

4. Prayer for Stillness.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psalm 23:2
Follow the Lord as He leads you besides quiet waters. Move away from strife and conflict. Repent from any attitude that depresses you and creates unrest in your soul. Pray to the Lord to help you hear His voice and follow Him. He leads you beside still waters not noisy waters. Pray against the noise of pestilence and anguish. Express your trust in the LORD and stillness will come upon you.
Command every noisy storm around you to be still.

5. Prayer for Survival.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:3
Pray for the LORD to bring your soul back from the pit of death and destruction. The LORD will restore your joy and faith. He will quicken your mortal body and empower your spirit. You will not die in your current trials but live to declare the works of the LORD.

6. Prayer for Sanctification.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:3
Pray for the LORD to guide you into thoughts and actions of righteousness. The LORD your Shepherd’s voice will not lead you in the ways of sin and destructions.

7. Prayer for Security.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psalm 23:4
Bind and cast the spirit of the fear of death and destruction out of your mind. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. Reject fear by confessing the will of God for your life. The LORD is with you – He surrounds you as the mountains surround Jerusalem.
Ask God to shut the mouth of the lions in your lion’s den.
Ask God to quench the violence of fire like the case of Abednego.

8. Prayer of Support.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psalm 23: 4
Pray for God’s rod and staff to comfort you. His rod is any means by which He rescues you from danger and keeps you in the right way. His staff is the grace and love by which He bears you in His arms without getting weary of your weaknesses.

9. Prayer for Supply.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psalm 23:5
Rejoice in the LORD for supplying your needs in quantities enough to be called a banquet. May your God supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. The presence of your enemies will only lead to your increase on every side.

10. Prayer for the Spirit.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psalm 23:5

Pray for the LORD to fill you with the Spirit and anoint your head with oil. Your horn is exalted like that of the unicorn – you will defeat all your enemies. Your anointing breaks every yoke and sets you free from bondage.

11. Prayer for Surplus.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psalm 23:5

Your cup runs over. Pray for God to give you more than enough to be a blessing to others. You are not only blessed – you are a blessing. Receive all sufficiency in all things to abound to every good work.

12. Prayer for Success.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 23:6
The mark of success is for goodness and mercy to follow you all the days of your life.
The goodness and mercy of God are His acts of generosity and blessings on your life. You obtain His goodness when you obey Him but in the event that you slip up His mercy will sustain you.
Look out for God’s goodness and mercy.
Call them to follow you all the days of your life.
Even in the days that look bad, goodness and mercy will follow you. Thank God for His goodness and mercy even if you don’t seem to see or feel them.

13. Pray for Settlement.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 23:6
The house of the LORD means God’s presence and the fellowship of His saints. Ask the LORD to give you the grace to dwell in His house for ever. Nothing can separate you from God’s presence. Sin, sickness, discouragement, fear, poverty, persecution or death cannot separate you from the love of God. You are permanently settled in God’s house. You cannot be moved.

CONCLUSION
1. Thank the LORD for being your Shepherd.
2. Give Him the glory for all His acts of deliverance and provision.
3. Pray for leaders and members of the Body of Christ to receive God’s grace as their Shepherd.
